a modern theatrical circus

About the Show:
This was the inagural performance of bom circo; Lincoln, NE first-- and only-- theatrical circus show.
In the summer of 2014, an idea gestated in the mind of Beau Poehlman, a juggler from Lincoln, Nebraska. He knew local performers of many kinds: aerialists, dancers, musicians, hoopers, and more. After traveling to Kansas City to be amazed by an experimental circus show, one thing was clear: he had to try to bring all these performers together on one stage, for a collaborative and dynamic performance in his hometown of Lincoln.
And so, he enlisted the help of Alex Rousseau, Alma Cerretta, Claire Shinn, and Jesse Debolt in the spring of 2015. Each of them had extensive theatre and performing arts experience. Together they created the bom circo! team, striving to bring the circus idea to life.
I was brought on board to co-direct the production with Jesse Debolt, and together we conceptualized and devised a show that brought uncommon and curious new talent of Lincoln into the limelight. Staged in Wyuka Stables in Wyuka Cemetery, bom circo took the audience on an adventure lead by a time-traveling contortionist as she brought together performers from across time and space-- signaling the beginning of the company fostering unique talent both in the world of the show and of our very own city of Lincoln.
